And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
