The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
