The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
