Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are united, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
