Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
