The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Then We were true to the promise, We saved them together with those whom We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
