So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night 48 and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars. 49
