The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
