Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 So shall We make the later ones to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 Till a limit known? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 place on it high mountains and provide you with fresh water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 'This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
