The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
