The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
