He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe [of God] 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
