And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 if He will, He calms the wind so that they remain motionless upon its back, surely, there are signs in this for every thankful, patient (person). 33 Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 That which has been given to you is only the wherewithal of the transient life of this world. But that which is with Allah is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 and when harmed they become victorious. 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 And indeed whosoever takes revenge after he has suffered wrong, for such there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
