The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And who softly release the soul. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
