Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
