Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
