The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
