The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
