The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
