The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
