Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
