The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
