The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
