And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
