۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
