The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
