The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
