The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
