The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 unto a mighty day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
