The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
