So they both proceeded: until, when they were in the boat, he scuttled it. Said Moses: "Hast thou scuttled it in order to drown those in it? Truly a strange thing hast thou done!" 71 He said, "Did I not tell you that you would not be able to remain patient with me?" 72 (Moses) said: Be not wroth with me that I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my fault. 73 and so they departed. Thereafter they met a boy and he killed him. He (Moses) exclaimed: 'What, have you killed a pure soul and it was not done (in retaliation) for a soul? you have done a terrible thing' 74 ۞ The man said, "Did I not tell you that you would not be able to have any patience with me?" 75 (Moses) said: If I ask thee after this concerning aught, keep not company with me. Thou hast received an excuse from me. 76 Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!" 77 Said he, 'This is the parting between me and thee. Now I will tell thee the interpretation of that thou couldst not bear patiently. 78 As for the ship, it belonged to certain poor men, who toiled upon the sea; and I desired to damage it, for behind them there was a king who was seizing every ship by brutal force. 79 And as for the lad, his parents were believers and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. 80 so We decided that their Lord should replace him by a better and more virtuous son. 81 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience." 82
