Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
