The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
