The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
