The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
