The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
