The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
