He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 So you are after him! 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
