The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
