A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
