If they charge thee with falsehood, say: "My work to me, and yours to you! ye are free from responsibility for what I do, and I for what ye do!" 41 Some of them will listen to you, but are you supposed to make the deaf hear even if they have no understanding? 42 And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see? 43 Surely, God does not wrong people at all, but people wrong themselves. 44 (But today they are oblivious of everything except enjoyment of worldly life.) And on the Day when He will muster all men together, they will feel as though they had been in the world no more than an hour of the day to get acquainted with one another. (It will then become evident that) those who called the lie to meeting with Allah were utter losers and were not rightly-directed. underlies this sharp remark is the faint hope that perhaps such people would be shaken out of their slumber. 45 Whether We let you see some of that with which We promised them, or We call you to Us, to Us they shall return. Allah is witness of the things they do. 46 And for every Ummah (a community or a nation), there is a Messenger; when their Messenger comes, the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged. 47 And they say, “When will this promise come, if you are truthful?” 48 Say [O Prophet]: "It is not within my power to avert harm from, or bring benefit to, myself, except as God may please. For all people a term has been set: when the end of their term approaches, they can neither delay it by a single moment, nor hasten it." 49 Say: "Have you ever thought if His punishment befalls you at night or in the day, what would the sinners do to despatch it? 50 Is it, then, when it hath befallen, that ye will believe therein now? whereas ye have surely been hastening it on. 51 The unjust will be told, "Suffer the everlasting torment. Do you expect a recompense other than what you deserve? 52 And they ask you “Is it a reality*?” Say, “Yes, by oath of my Lord, indeed surely it is a reality, and you will not be able to escape.” (* The punishment of the hereafter.) 53
