Deem not that God is heedless of what the evildoers work; He is only deferring them to a day when eyes shall stare, 42 They will be hastening forward, their heads unpraised, their look returning not unto them and their hearts void. 43 Warn mankind of the Day when the punishment will overtake them, when the evildoers will say: 'Our Lord, grant us respite for awhile, we will answer Your call, and follow the Messengers' Did you not once swear that you would never cease? 44 Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you." 45 Indeed, they planned their plot, and their plot was with Allah, though their plot was a great (one, still) it would never be able to remove the mountains (real mountains or the Islamic law) from their places (as it is of no importance) [Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 2, Page 597]. [It is said by some interpreters regarding this Verse that the Quraish pagans plotted against Prophet Muhammad SAW to kill him but they failed and were unable to carry out their plot which they plotted]. 46 So, do not think, (O Prophet), that Allah will go back upon His promise to His Messengers. Surely Allah is Mighty, Lord of retribution. 47 On the Day whereon the earth will be changed into other than the earth, and the heavens also; and all creatures will appear unto Allah, the One, the Subduer. 48 On that Day you shall see the guilty ones secured in chains; 49 their garments shall be black as if made out of pitch, and flames of the Fire shall cover their faces 50 God will requite each soul according to its deeds. Swift is God's reckoning. 51 This is a message for mankind. Let them take warning from it and know that He is but one God. Let those possessed of understanding may take heed. 52
