1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
