Did you not see those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah? Where are they being diverted? 69 those who reject the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers shall soon know -- 70 when fetters and chains shall be on their necks, and they shall be dragged into 71 into the boiling water and then are thrown into the Fire, 72 and then they will be asked, "Where are those whom you associated [with God]?" 73 They will say, "They have been lost to us; nay, we did not invoke anything before [that had real existence]." Thus God leaves the deniers of the truth to stray; 74 "This is so because you went about exulting wrongfully in the land," (will they be told), "and you were insolent. 75 Enter ye the gates of hell, to dwell therein. Evil is the habitation of the scornful. 76 (Muhammad), exercise patience. The promise of God is true. Whether We let you witness the suffering with which they were threatened or because of your death (you do not see them suffering,), We shall still punish them when they return to Us (on the Day of Judgment). 77 And indeed, [O Muhammad,] We sent forth apostles before thy time; some of them We have mentioned to thee, and some of them We have not mentioned to thee. And it was not given to any apostle to bring forth a miracle other than by God's leave. Yet when God's will becomes manifest, judgment will [already] have been passed in all justice, and lost will be, then and there, all who tried to reduce to nothing [whatever they could not understand]. 78
