The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
