The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
