Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In high empyrean 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 I am bereft of power." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and no food except pus 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
