No, by the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 About the criminals, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
