The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
