Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
